Local Skills Reports are underpinned by a comprehensive set of core indicators, a selection of skills related data provided by the Department for Education’s Skills Advisory Panel Programme Team, with supporting local analysis and intelligence.
Skills Advisory Panels were not required to update the Local Skills Report published in January 2022 in 2023 however the Department for Education mandated all Skills Advisory Panels to update Annexes A & B of the core indicators report with the latest data available as at December 2022 to support the development of Local Skills Improvement Plans.
HEY LEP’s Employment and Skills Team have refreshed the Local Skills Report first published in Spring 2021, to bring it up to date with the latest skills-related indicators provided by the Department for Education’s Skills Advisory Panel Programme Team as well local analysis, skills information and case studies for the HEY region. The aim of the Local Skills Report is to influence local partners to match the provision offer against employer skills demand.
The Local Skills Report 2022 is the most recent and final version of the document which is succeeded by the HEY Local Skills Improvement Plan led by the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce.
The Local Skills Report 2022 was used to inform the HEY LEP Employment and Skills Strategy.

Local Skills Reports were a requirement by the Department for Education of all Skills Advisory Panels (SAPs) and provide a clear and consistent view of local skills needs to help partners to respond to labour market needs. In Hull & East Yorkshire the SAP role is fulfilled by the HEY LEP Employment & Skills Board. Local Skills Reports will also feed intelligence to the central government, including the national level Skills and Productivity Board .
The report reflects the work of the former Humber LEP and includes a wide range of skills-related indicators, analysis, intelligence and case studies for the Humber and the HEY region.
The HEY LEP has created a live Skills Dashboard which includes key indicators and statistical data informing local decision-makers and stakeholders on the HEY skills environment and provides an evidence base of the local labour and skills landscape.
The data within the dashboard was reviewed in December 2022.
