Quality in Careers Standard

The Hull and East Yorkshire LEP is a licensed awarding body for the national CEIAG quality award – the Quality in Careers Standard.  The Standard is fully aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks, complies with DfE statutory guidance and includes independent external assessment and national accreditation.

The Standard gives schools and colleges the opportunity to showcase their careers education provision and supports the development of outstanding careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG). The nationally recognised award is one of the highest accolades an organisation can receive for excellence in this area of work.

Working with schools and colleges; we will help organisations to audit and develop their careers provision in order to have maximum impact; leading to positive career-related learning, behavioural and transition outcomes for young people.

Why choose the Quality in Careers Standard?

Statutory guidance from January 2018 strongly recommends all schools work towards the Quality in Careers Standard to support the development of their careers programme. A key aspect of the Standard is the integration of CEIAG into the curriculum and achievement of the Gatsby Benchmarks, demonstrating a holistic approach to CEIAG.

The Standard will:

  • Demonstrate to Ofsted that a high standard has been reached re support evidence for Ofsted inspections.
  • Assist quality assurance of CEIAG
  • Develop and improve your provision by providing a framework to audit against
  • Raise the profile of CEIAG at strategic and operational level.
  • Encourage employer enagagement, work related learning and employability skills
  • Demonstrate you fully meet or are making good progress towards meeting the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks of good practice against which our award is mapped.

The Hull and East Yorkshire LEP has consistently championed the need for high quality, impartial careers education, information, advice and guidance and see this as a real entitlement for all of our young people and adults.  Investing in and holding the Quality in Careers Standard is evidence of a high standard of practice for parents and stakeholders, and provides excellent evidence for Ofsted.
