Motion Rehab were supported with £55.8k from the HEY LEP’s Growing Hull & East Yorkshire grant scheme. Growing Hull and East Yorkshire is funded by the LEP’s Getting Building Fund programme, secured as part of the Government’s commitment to the Northern Powerhouse.
The business provides patient rehabilitation services for individuals with needs arising from Strokes and other long-term conditions. The Covid-19 pandemic has created additional demands, with many survivors needing ongoing rehabilitation. Increasing referrals from case managers, NHS CCGs, charities and private individuals in the Humber area indicated a need to replicate the intensive rehabilitation facility currently operating in Leeds within Hull.
Whilst there are few facilities in the wider area offering these services, the business does not recognise any direct competitors locally in that no other facility offers the range of rehabilitation services or supporting technologies.
Investment was required in a range of robotic and VR technologies to expand an existing clinic in the Warners Health Centre in Hull. The technologies are now enabling MotionRehab to expand the range of services offered and therefore the functional gains that can be obtained by patients. In total the investment has enabled the creation of 6 New jobs alongside the 221m² of New/Refurbished Floorspace.
Sarah Daniel, Director & Consultant Neurological Physiotherapist stated ‘“The award of the Growing Hull and East Yorkshire Grant has been instrumental in the growth our my company, MOTIONrehab with the Humber region. It contributed to the purchase state of the art rehabilitation robotics and VR technology, enabling MOTIONrehab to significantly increase their capacity to treat clients. The integration of the technology accelerates therapy outcomes for individuals with neurological injuries or disease promoting independence, thus reducing the on ongoing health and social care costs. MOTIONrehab have already exceeded the proposed job creation submitted in the grant application and we are continuing to recruit local talent. Our collaboration with the LEP on this project has been extremely successful.”
