The HEY Business, Growth and Skills Hub (BGSH) Talent Forum (formally, the HEY LEP Talent Forum) is a sub-group of the HEY LEP Employment and Skills Board.
Chaired by Nikki Davies, HR & Talent Acquisition Manager at Ocean Finance and HEY BGSH Employment & Skills Board member, it brings together senior HR professionals from across Hull and East Yorkshire to network, share best practice, hear from expert guest speakers and to advise the HEY Business, Growth and Skills Hub on matters relating to the local economy and workforce.

The HEY LEP hosted its last Talent Forum meeting on Wednesday 7th February 2024 from MS Teams. At the meeting guest speakers discussed with delegates members the following topics: Workplace Culture In Practice for (How do businesses grow a positive and engaging work place culture – via a remote, hybrid and office environment). HR Talent Acquisition and the Local Labour Market (As recruiters, when recruiting how are you finding the local labour market? What are the hardest roles to recruit for, and why?). Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) (How companies are addressing climate change, sustainability, biodiversity, energy efficiency, waste reduction and compliance with ethical standards). This was followed by a HEY LEP Employment & Skills Team update with presentations from the HEY Careers Enterprise Company Lead on it’s Enterprise Adviser (EA) Recruitment Campaign. In addition, the HEY LEP Workforce Development Business Adviser who provided an overview of the role and discussed the importance and benefits of levy transfer for SME’s businesses in the HEY region.
The meeting concluded with Employment and Skills Manager Chris Howell who updated members on the HEY Devolution Deal and the ongoing Consultation process. Along with how the LEP functions and team will transfer to newly created Combined Authority following the closure of the LEP on 31st March 2024.
