Welcome to the Humber Jobs Fuse service – supporting individuals and employers who may be facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This service provides essential careers advice to those who have lost their job during the coronavirus pandemic, including CV advice and the opportunity to reskill, and may be able to put you in touch with opportunities that are right for you.

This will run alongside a service for employers, promoting vacancies as new and replacement needs arise as result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, if you are an employer due to make redundancies, you can contact the service to find out about the careers advice and additional support available to staff.

Humber Jobs Fuse is a joint service created by the Humber LEP, The Education Development Trust (a prime contractor for the National Careers Service in Yorkshire and the Humber) the Department for Work and Pensions, the four Humber Local Authorities and Skills Support for the Workforce.

Support for individuals

Humber Jobs Fuse supports those who have lost their job, or where their job has been affected as a result of the coronavirus crisis, through a dedicated telephone enquiry service.

This service offers free, impartial and professional advice to job seekers – including aspects such assessing skills, access to training, understanding the labour market and the jobs available.

Individuals seeking free impartial support should contact the National Careers Service on the freephone number 0800 100 900.

This service is provided by the Education Development Trust, a service provider for the National Careers Service. Advisors are available all across the Humber region.

Support for young people:

Please see below for support for young people in your area:

Local Authorities will provide employment and education support for all young people up to the age of 18 (or up to age 25 if you have a special education need and/or a disability). The support on offer will include services such as:

  • Independent and impartial careers advice and guidance sessions
  • Information on how to access any associated benefits
  • Development of your C.V.
  • Assistance in accessing all Apprenticeship and further training programmes.
  • Interview preparation coaching
  • Signposting to other services and agencies to help overcome any additional barriers you may be facing
  • Access to a dedicated advisor to support you back into employment, education and training

The Humber Local Authorities and the LEP have worked together to develop a careers portal which lists all of the training and education opportunities sin the region under the Bridging the Gap umbrella.  This site also includes useful information for parents and carers and  for teachers.
