Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HEY LEP) has opened an extended invite for its first Student Voice Celebration Event next month.
The occasion will be held in Hull’s Guildhall to celebrate the success of the pilot programme which launched in October 2023.
Employers, careers leaders, parents and students will be afforded the chance to discover key findings from this year’s programme, as well as hearing from current students on the scheme about their vision for careers education in schools.
Fiona Headridge, Hull and East Yorkshire Careers Hub lead, said: “Guests will be able to discover first-hand some of the key findings from this year’s programme.
“Student Voice has reinforced some of our initial thoughts, whilst also unearthing new findings.
“It’s exciting that we are now able to put forward students to hear of the benefits that Student Voice has had for them, hopefully inspiring more students to enter the scheme.
“We are looking forward to a thrilling afternoon of knowledge sharing and all at the Careers Hub comment the students for their exceptional honesty, zeal and dedication.”
Student Voice was commissioned in the 2022/23 academic year as a first-of-its-kind programme for the region and focuses on capturing student views on careers education, information, advice and guidance within schools.
It was commissioned by HEY Careers Hub in partnership with The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC).
It is being delivered by Different Resonance with the aim of improving careers provision with schools and colleges.
Student Voice has led with a series of bi-monthly sessions with a selection of students across 15 schools who provided both their and their peers’ opinions on current provisions.
Alongside this, the students engaged in discussions and idea sharing, prompted by four topics, namely current provision by schools, accessing careers information and guidance, the world of work and hopes for the future.
Student Voice Celebration Event will take place in Hull’s Guildhall on Tuesday 12 March from 12-3pm. Refreshments will be provided.
