Over 75 free business workshops and webinars are running from October to December 2022.

Small and medium sized businesses from across Hull and East Yorkshire could become more resilient, more innovative, and overcome barriers to growth with the help of a newly launched workshop and webinar series.

The Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s (HEY LEP) Business Growth Hub has commissioned over 75 business workshops and webinars, running from October to December 2022. Delivered by experts, the sessions are free to attend for registered businesses and will cover a wide range of essential business topics.

The events are being operated as part of the Growth Hub’s “#GrowMySME” programme, which has supported over 3,500 businesses since its launch in 2018. Covering four major topic areas, the series will be a blend of in-person workshops at venues across the region and brief online webinars lasting one or two hours each.

The first topic area covers “Foundations for Growth” which will give business leaders a sound overview of the essential business processes and systems needed to create solid foundations for growth. Delivered by PAGE Consulting Ltd, the Foundations for Growth series of workshops will look at the knowledge, tools and techniques needed to prepare a business for sustainable business growth, as well as looking at how to implement superior and effective systems and process to oversee client management, business projects and operations, business resources and finances, and much more.

The second topic area will be delivered by Client Marketing Ltd and will look at all aspects of effective sales and marketing for small and medium businesses. This will include how to create a powerful marketing plan, how to manage the lead generation and sales process, and how to make the most of digital marketing and social media.

Consultants from Biskit Ltd will deliver the third topic area, which will explore business leadership, business culture and business innovation. Businesses will be able to attend workshops such as how to build an effective team, leadership tips for business success, and exploring the habits and traits of high performing companies.

The fourth and final topic area – also delivered by Biskit Ltd – will provide expert insight into workforce matters, including workforce development, recruitment, and HR considerations. This will include webinars on health, wellbeing and mindfulness in the workplace, developing superior recruitment strategies, as well as improving employee retention, and workshops which will give delegates the confidence to create workforce skills plans and talent management strategies.

James Newman, Chair of the HEY LEP, said: “We understand that many businesses are dealing with extremely challenging trading conditions due to the status of the UK economy, whilst others are in a position to keep growing via new market and sales opportunities. However, business resilience – that ability to steer a business through challenging times – has always been vital, now more than ever.

“We are therefore delighted to launch this series of workshops and webinars, which are aimed at giving business owners and leaders in Hull and East Yorkshire the knowledge and tools they need to sustain and ultimately grow their businesses into 2023 and beyond”.

Jon Brunton, HEY LEP Growth Hub Manager, said: “This workshop and webinar series is delivered by expert business consultants and is aimed directly at our community of small and medium businesses.

“A core theme across all of these sessions will be about business resilience. We know that ‘doing business’ in 2022 is more challenging than ever, however at the Growth Hub we always encourage business owners and leaders to take a fresh look at how they do things. Whether that is looking again at the systems and processes they use to run their business, reviewing how they approach sales and marketing, overhauling how they lead their businesses and develop a strong culture in their teams, and of course refreshing how they recruit, retain and develop their staff.

“We therefore encourage our businesses in the region to get involved with this series of workshops and webinars and make the most of these valuable sessions, which will feature expert consultants proving cutting edge advice, best practice and guidance”.

To access this workshop and webinar programme, businesses must be registered and confirmed as eligible to access the #GrowMySME Programme. This means that a business must have a trading address in the Humber region, have fewer than 250 full time equivalent staff, and an annual turnover of less than €50 million. Registration is quick and easy, with support available from the Growth Hub team to complete registration paperwork.

The full series of workshops and webinars can be found on the Growth Hub’s #GrowMySME website at www.growmysme.co.uk/events.
