The project directly responds to industry need to address skills gaps in construction and builds upon the CITB Construction Hub and FE investment to create three centres for Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) with industry standard facilities providing high level skills, including design skills, trade skills, technical training and traditional craft skills.
The three centres align with post-16 area reviews acting as a hub to support providers building capacity and capability to deliver MMC. They also aims to tackle forecasted skill shortages (CITB projections and specific impacts e.g. Hinkley-C, Wylfa Newydd nuclear power stations and HS2) that could derail transformation of the Humber.
The hub will provide opportunities for local people to fill 25,000 jobs to be created in the next 5 years (CITB, 2018).
